Chapter Ten

After the session in New York I returned home to Mobile and to working for the USA Medical Center Hospital. I had a brief contact with Rick Russo a few years later asking if I would consider a filming with Nigel Turner, a British film maker. Turner wanted to film me in my laboratory and after getting the administration’s approval, Turner promised the PR department a copy of the filming to use as publicity. The filming was done in the special coagulation laboratory. The incident was a disaster. After the completion of the filming, the PR department never received a copy of the film nor did I, which put me in a little hot water with the administration.

Over the ensuing years, I have kept in occasional contact with Rick and he has given me invaluable help in writing this book, as have many others.

In 1998 I once again agreed to meet with a researcher named William Law. I really wasn’t interested in rehashing the same experiences that I had gone over with previous researchers, but as a courtesy and because my wife and I were passing through New Orleans on a trip, I agreed to briefly meet with Mr. Law. The interview lasted two hours. My next contact with Mr. Law was in 2002, when he invited me to participate in a meeting of the Bethesda witnesses in Fort Myers, Fl. My interest was piqued when I was told that Jim Sibert, one of the FBI agents present in the morgue, was going to be present.

My wife and I decided to make a much needed mini-vacation of the trip. Since Paul O’Connor and his wife were going to be at the meeting, it would give my wife an opportunity to visit with Paul’s wife, her cousin. At the meeting I was introduced to Mr. Sibert. He was a pleasant, likable, older man. During the meeting, I listened intentely to Mr. Sibert’s relating his experiences of that night in the morgue, but came away with the feeling that what he was telling us had been heavily influenced by his following the case over the many years. It seemed as if he was relating a blend of his own experiences and what he had read intermingled with the government’s official line. I understood that Mr. Sibert had been an avid reader of the case. In spite of these personal misgivings, I found Jim Sibert a very amiable and personable man, someone I would have liked to develop a friendship with if given the opportunity. 11

After the Florida meeting I continued my contact with William and in 2013, I finally succumbed to his constant requests to attend the JFK Lancer Conference in Dallas, Texas. It was the 50th anniversary of the assassination. I encountered an unexpected wealth of interest which totally surprised me. I was asked to take questions, which I was totally unprepared for. I left the conference with a new perspective. As I traveled home, I thought about the sincere interest that I had encountered.
